"My Place - Where I love to be"

OUR PATRON SAINT

Mary was chosen to be the Mother of Jesus, and Mother of God. There have been many ways by which people have remembered Mary during the past 2000 years of the Catholic Church. Many popular devotions grew up to remember her and the influence she would have had on her son, Jesus, and on the Church and the Apostles after Jesus death.

Mary has many feastdays throughout the year commemorating different aspects and events of her life on earth, eg. The Visitation, as well as many other popular titles given her throughout the centuries, eg. Our Lady of the Rosary, and more specific feast days such as Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Fatima. Mary Help Of Christians was the chosen feast day for Australia.

Our Parish Church in Bellingen is named after Mary and is 'St Mary Immaculate, Mother of God Church, Bellingen'.

For St. Mary's, Bellingen, we have chosen her "Assumption" as our School Feastday. Part of the Doctrine of the Catholic Church is that after her death Mary's body was taken up to heaven. Mary's Assumption is celebrated on August 15th each year.
